Mujeres del Mundo

From 15th to 29th of March, 2013

'The Mujeres del mundo exhibition, open to the public at the Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales in Havana, is among the activities organized for the Francophone Week being staged in Havana and Santiago in Cuba. Through his paintings and drawings, Lamazou reflects the inner worlds of women, and the ties he forms with them. ‘In any part of the world where there’s fighting, there’s suffering but also the individual stories of happy women – this is what I seek to transmit in my work,’ he explains to Prensa Latina.

His exhibition is a warm and sometimes disturbing account of nighttime dancers, political refugees, countrywomen, artists, craftswomen, nomads, natives and nuns: women thus far left anonymous.'

'Las mujeres de Lamazou invaden la Havana,' article by Yadira Cruz Valera, Prensa Latina (originally in Spanish)
